Comment se recharge une batterie lithium-ion?

Il est facile de penser à charger une batterie comme si vous remplissiez une baignoire avec du "courant". Il suffit de brancher le tuyau jusqu'à ce qu'il soit plein! De l’extérieur, c’est exactement comme cela que cela fonctionne, mais à l’intérieur, c’est un peu plus nuancé.

Une batterie lithium-ion se charge généralement en deux étapes. Vient d’abord le processus appelé charge à courant constant. C'est la partie qui est vraiment simple. Le chargeur de votre téléphone ou de votre tablette appliquera un courant électrique constant à la batterie pour ramener tous ces électrons à l'anode. Au cours de cette étape, le chargeur décide simplement de la quantité d’énergie qui sort de la lance à incendie et commence à pulvériser. Plus ce courant constant est élevé, plus la batterie peut charger rapidement. Les chargeurs rapides haute tension, comme ceux qui commencent à être équipés de nouveaux téléphones, profitent de cette première étape pour faire le plein le plus rapidement possible (au prix d'un peu plus de stress sur la batterie) .

Lorsque la batterie est rechargée à 70%, la procédure change et passe à une charge à tension constante. Au cours de cette deuxième étape, le chargeur s'assure que la tension, c'est-à-dire la différence de courant entre la batterie et le chargeur, reste la même plutôt que de maintenir le courant constant. En pratique, cela signifie que lorsque la batterie se remplit, le courant envoyé par le chargeur diminue. Au fur et à mesure que la batterie se remplit, la vitesse à laquelle elle se recharge ralentit. Une fois que vous avez atteint 100%, la charge arrive tout simplement à la surface, juste assez pour prendre en compte la toute petite charge que votre batterie perd naturellement au fil du temps.
